Chapter Six

Usually my dreams during the holiday season are a mix of boring logistics about too many Christmas trees and not enough trucks, but this morning I woke up with a huge hard-on from a dream about getting down and dirty with Hollee. It’s been a long time - years in fact - since I’ve been this hot over a girl, but being with her was so real and so right.

I jump in the shower. I need to get through today, get all the deliveries done and getting to see Hollee will be my present at the end of the day. Obviously I’m up for another one of those fantastic kisses if that’s all she wants to do - but every part of my body is aching to get closer to hers. I catch myself singing something but I don’t recognise the tune - something about the most wonderful time of the year. Dammit.

The day goes quickly, even though my work partner Rick keeps teasing me for being in such a good mood (his wife’s nickname for me in December is The Hot Grinch). He wears a Santa hat to do the deliveries and it’s his mission in life to get me to wear one too.

We set out with over seventy trees and we’ve delivered most of them when we take a break. There’s a tricky moment when I have to spend forty minutes doing some al fresco carving for a sweet old lady who has a Christmas tree stand from the 1950s, but I manage it and she’s delighted. The smell of the pine needles keeps reminding me of kissing Hollee last night and it’s driving me crazy.

My phone beeps. It’s Hollee.

Hey Delivery Guy, how’s it going? :-)

Great, I can’t wait to sex you tonight. I start texting. Wait, that’s not right.

Great, I can’t stop thinking about tonight. You’re so sexy.

Rick throws his Santa hat at me. “Dude I knew it!” He’s smiling. “You’re finally interested in someone. Do I know her?”

“Nope.” I throw the hat back at him.

“So there is someone.” Rick is loving this.

He’s a big bearded bear of a guy who works part-time in the police department, which in a small town like Snowflake Falls mostly involves eating doughnuts and helping out with lost cats. Rick’s all coupled up with a lovely wife and two kids. He’s one of those blissfully contented souls who wants everyone to be as happy as him. He’s a good guy, even though his sense of direction isn’t great, which makes delivering trees probably not the best job. He’s a demon with a chainsaw though, so gets the work done quicker than three other guys put together.

I sigh. He won’t let this one go. “Well, she’s my new next door neighbour.”

“Wow man, that’s so cool. You can just knock on the wall when you want to hook up!” Rick mimes a knocking motion in case I didn’t get it.

“We’re not there yet, I’ve only been hanging out with her for a couple of days.
